Reading is one of the main fundamentals to build upon a child’s learning and functional life skills. It helps to develop their mind when children understand the underlying meaning behind the written word and therefore, enhancing their language acquisition.
The obstacles faced by children with reading difficulty tend to outweigh their interest to read. This may indirectly affect their learning in other aspects. With proper guidance, children can overcome their reading difficulties.
In our Reading Programme, we scaffold children’s reading through a sequential process – Phonemic Awareness, Word Construction and Decoding. Each new skill is constructed upon their preceding mastery of reading. Subsequently, they will begin to understand the purpose of word usage, sentence structure and comprehension.
